The thirteenth edition of the International Coffee Tasting, the international competition, ended in Tokyo; 289 products from all over the world tasted by 30 judges of the International Institute of Tasters (IIAC).
The greatest honor of the judges was to be able to assert a new champion among the participating competitors of a very high quality level.
The winner of the Italian Espresso category is the Royal Moka 100% Arabic blend.
The 2019 edition of the International Coffee Tasting took place on December 10 and 11 in Tokyo, where 289 products from all over the world competed. The coffees were served anonymously to the judges: the analysis of the samples was conducted blindly and, as the organizers point out, in compliance with the rules of sensory analysis.
The International Institute of Coffee Tasters (Iiac) is a non-profit association supported only by member fees and founded in 1993 with the aim of compiling and disseminating scientific methods for the sensory evaluation of coffee. It has always focused on espresso, a symbol of made in Italy, perfecting a specific tasting method. Since its creation, Iiac has run hundreds of coffee tasting license courses, attended by operators and coffee lovers from all over the world. Also in the training sector, in 1999 Iiac created the Italian Espresso Specialist course to certify the operators who work in coffee shops serving certified Italian espresso.
